(FILES): This September 9, 2004 file photo shows James Schlesinger, then Chairman of the Independent Panel to Review Department of Defense Detention Operations, testifying before the US Senate Armed Services Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Schlesinger, former US Defense Secretary and CIA director during the Republican presidencies of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, died on March 27, 2014 at the age of 85. "He left an impressive mark on US energy policy and the safety," the website for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) said.
