JAPAN-ICJ-AUSTRALIA-WHALING-COURT-DIPLOMACY-FILES
(FILES) This file photo taken on July 3, 2000 shows fishermen breaking up the body of a whale at the Wada port in Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo, while pupils of a local elementary school observe. The UN's top court on March 31, 2014 ordered Japan to end its annual Antarctic whale hunt, saying in a landmark ruling that the programme was a commercial activity disguised as science. Japan responded by saying it would respect the International Court of Justice order to end its annual Antarctic whale hunt, despite "deep disappointment" with the landmark decision.
