Gordon Banks, Marvin Gaye’s music director and band member, puts his guitar away after performing at the Marvin Bar and Restaurant April 2, 2014 in Washington, DC during the 7th annual Marvin Gaye Day celebration to honor the 75 birthday of singer and song writer. Gaye was shot and killed by his own father on the eve of his 45th birthday in 1984, leaving behind a remarkable string of hits -- led by "Let's Get It On," "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Sexual Healing" -- that remain pop, funk and soul classics.
