96 Liverpool scarfs are placed on seats ahead of the English FA Cup Semi-final match between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in London on April 12, 2014, as a tribute to the Liverpool fans who lost their lives in the 1989 Hillsbrough disaster. The disaster, which saw 96 Liverpool supporters crushed to death during an FA Cup semi-final, was the nadir of a desperate time for English football, with crumbling facilities and falling attendances symptomatic of a sport in decline.
