PERU-UN-ECLAC-HUMALA-BARCENA
Peru's President Ollanta Humala (R) and UN Alicia Barcena open the 35th session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) at a hotel in Lima on May 6, 2014 for an audience of its representatives from ECLAC's 44 member states and 12 associate members, officials from the Commission and from the United Nations. The event, scheduled to run through May 9, aims at bolstering the region's socio economic situation as well as countries' long-term development strategies. During the three-day UN forum, the Commission is due to present the document Compacts for Equality: Towards a Sustainable Future, which aims to orient policy making in the coming years.
