In this picture taken on March 17, 2014, Afghan National Army (ANA) troops attached to the 4th Brigade on the 201 Afghan Army Corps stand at attention in Jalalabad as Brigadier General Dadan Lawang (C), the commanding officer of the forward operating base in the Khogyani district, reviews the troops a day before they participated in an operation in the nearby Shirzad district in an effort to flush out insurgents ahead of the upcoming April 5 presidential contest. A computer without a power cable, a spy camera with English instructions that no one can read, and water-logged accommodation -- life on the frontline can be a long series of setbacks and challenges for Afghan soldiers.
