In this picture taken on March 17, 2014, Afghan Border Police effectives walk in a line as they head for an address by the commanding officer of an Afghan Army forward operating base in Khogyani district, a day before they and troops of the 4th Brigade, 201 Army Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) participated in an operation in the nearby Shirzad district in an effort to flush out insurgents ahead of the upcoming April 5 presidential contest. A computer without a power cable, a spy camera with English instructions that no one can read, and water-logged accommodation -- life on the frontline can be a long series of setbacks and challenges for Afghan soldiers.
