PAKISTAN-UNREST-NORTHWEST
A Pakistani relative helps an injured tribesman as he arrives from North Waziristan, following operations by the Pakistan army, for treatment at a hospital in the town of Bannu on May 23, 2014. Four suspected militants were killed as Pakistan's armed forces hit insurgent targets in a third day of action in a restive tribal area close to the Afghan border. The military used mortars and helicopter gunships to pound suspected Taliban hideouts in North Waziristan, one of seven tribal districts where militants have strongholds. The operation comes after two days of fighting in the area which began on May 21 with air strikes and ground clashes which left at least 71 suspected militants and four security personnel dead.
