A picture taken with a smartphone on May 25, 2014, shows emergency teams extinguishing a fire at the site of a car bomb attack in a regime-held area in Syria's central city of Homs, that left at least eight people dead and tens injured, according to the governor of Homs. For two years, Assad's forces bombarded insurgents holed up inside the city before the siege was finally lifted at the beginning of May, and the last rebel holdouts left the area under an evacuation deal that handed the Old City back to the government.
