ALBANIA-RELIGION-ORTHODOX-CATHEDRAL
Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church Bartholomew I (C) leads the holy ceremony of the Consecration of the new “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral in Tirana, on June 1, 2014. The new cathedral, replaces the old church destroyed to build a hotel by the former Communist regime which imposed atheism during 1967-1990, a period during which all but a few monumental churches or mosques were destroyed or turned into store-houses, blacksmith foundries, military barracks, and entertainment places.
