JAPAN-WWII-HISTORY-SEX
Lee Yong Soo (L) of South Korea speaks during a meeting as part of the 12th Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan, at Japan's House of Representatives office building in Tokyo on June 2, 2014. Some former World War Two "comfort women" attended the meeting -- from South Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia and the daughter of another from China -- calling on the Japanese government to provide compensation to the former sexual slaves. The Asian Solidarity Conference, which started on May 31 in Tokyo, has been held 12 times since 1992 to press the Japanese government to admit responsibility for allegedly coercing thousands of women into providing sex to Japanese imperial army soldiers across the region.
