The French Acrobatic Patrol performs a demonstration, leaving trails of smoke in the colors of the French flag, over the beach of Arromanches-les-Bains, northern France, on June 5, 2014, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the World War II Allied landings in Normandy. June 6, 2014 marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day and "Operation Overlord", a vast military operation by Allied forces in Normandy, which turned the tide of World War II, eventually leading to the liberation of occupied France and the end of the war against Nazi Germany.
