AFGHANISTAN-UNREST-US-NATO-MILITARY-HEALTH
To go with Afghanistan-unrest-US-NATO-military-health,FOCUS by Dan De Luce
In this photograph taken on May 26, 2014, French and NATO medical staff receive an Afghan soldier at Kabul Airport before transporting him to an Afghan hospital. The soldier was being transported to a hospital in Kabul after being operated on at Forward Operating Base Shank for shrapnel wounds to his abdomen. The US Air Force 455th Air Expeditionary Wing contributes resources to air evacuation. As the Afghan military continues to train the Air Force and similar International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) medevac operations are examples of capabilities that the Afghan military has yet to master on a large scale and face loosing with the drawdown of ISAF troops.
