IRAQ-KURDS-WORLD-HERITAGE-CITADEL-FILES

(FILES)-- A file photo taken on January 9, 2008 shows a general view shows one of the entrances to the Erbil Citadel in the Kurdish city of Arbil in northern Iraq, with a statue of Kurdish writer Ibn al-Mustawfi al-Irbili on the right. The Arbil Citadel that dominates the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan was granted World Heritage Site status on June 21, 2014 in a move praised as a rare "note of optimism" amid the country's violence.
