BOSNIA-WWI-HISTORY-CENTENARY

An undated picture acquired from the Historical Archives of Sarajevo on June 28, 2014 shows the street corner where the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand took place in Sarajevo (view from Appel quey). The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by 19-year-old Bosnian-Serb nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo, 100 years ago this June 28, is widely considered to have sparked World War I. A cross on the sidewalk and the words ''Place, where the June 28, 1914 attack took place'' and '' corner of the Franz-Josef Josef-Straße street and Appel-Qual'' are written on the document.
