SLOVENIA-VOTE-ECONOMY-POVERTY
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY BOJAN KAVCIC
A Red Cross warehouse is full of humanitarian aid supplies intended for people who lost their jobs at the textile factory Aha Mura in Murska Sobota, Slovenia on July 2, 2014. Some 800 workers lost their jobs during recent layoffs. The home region of Pomurje, in Slovenia's northeast, has slid deeper into poverty and joblessness over the past few years. The situation is the worst in Pomurje, near the border with Austria and Hungary, with the country's lowest income per capita and highest unemployment rate at 21 percent, against 13 percent nationwide.
