FRANCE-POPULTERY-EXPORTS
Some of more than 300 poultry farmers and workers from the Tilly Sabco slaughterhouse block on July 15, 2014 a bridge and a main road, linking the western French cities of Rennes and Brest near the Brittany village of Plouegat-Moysan, asking the French prime minister to arbitrate on poultry exports and support the industry. The blockage took place on the eve of a meeting on the future of the slaughterhouse, specialized in frozen chickens for exports, mostly to the Middle East. Tilly-Sabco, which employs 340 people, started running into financial difficulties when the EU suspended aid for frozen poultry exports in mid-2013. AFP PHOTO FRED TANNEAU
