TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY SOPHIE LAUTIER
(FILES) A picture taken on July 10, 2014, shows mosquito repellent displayed for sale at a drugstore in Lamentin, near Fort-de-France, on the French Caribbean island of La Martinique. France's Health minister Marisol Touraine who began on July 17, 2014 a three-day visit in the French Antilles, warned on July 10, 2014 of a serious epidemic in the Antilles and French Guiana. The virus, transmitted by mosquito bites, has appeared in the Antilles and French Guiana late 2013. According to the "Institut de Veille sanitaire (the national health monitoring institute), six people died in Guadeloupe (one of the two French major islands in West Indies) "in connection with chikungunya" since the beginning of the epidemic, but only one "is directly related to the disease".
