US President Barack Obama arrives to attend the "session 3 - Governing for the Next Generation" of the US-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, DC, on August 6, 2014. Obama said that the US wants to expand help for Africa to fight threats that span borders like extremist groups and disease, as the high-level summit turned to security challenges. One day after announcing 33 billion US dollars in new investment and financing for the continent, Obama told some 45 African heads of state and government in Washington that its emergence needs more than just foreign business.
