On August 9, 2014 at 23:15 UTC, the MODIS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite took this visible image of Hurricane Iselle in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The American Hawaiian archipelago, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, had suffered little damage August 8, 2014 after facing the first winds of the storm Iselle, but Hurricane Julio continued to approach with winds near 170 km/h. Meteorologists had Iselle downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm category.
