COLOMBIA-HEALTH-VACCINE-PAPILLOMAVIRUS-PROTEST

Riot police confront a riot and blockade as people protest against the Colombian government and in support of the girls who presented symptoms of dizziness, strong headaches and even fainted in Carmen de Bolivar, Bolivar Province on September2, 2014. Colombian health authorities have denied that the hundreds of cases of girls who presented symptoms of dizziness, strong headaches and even fainted, are related to having received the HPV "Human papillomavirus" vaccine, which protects against four strains of the human papillomavirus that can lead to cervical cancer. The vaccine aims to prevent the spread of HPV, which is the most common sexually transmitted infection. Certain HPV strains can cause cancers of the cervix, head, neck and anus.
