COLOMBIA-HEALTH-VACCINE-PAPILLOMAVIRUS
Eva Mercado rests in her house after having health problems over the last weeks, in Carmen de Bolivar, Bolivar Province, Colombia, on August 30, 2014. Colombian health authorities have denied that the hundreds of cases of girls who presented symptoms of dizziness, strong headaches and even fainted, are related to having received the HPV "Human papillomavirus" vaccine, which protects against four strains of the human papillomavirus that can lead to cervical cancer. The vaccine aims to prevent the spread of HPV, which is the most common sexually transmitted infection. Certain HPV strains can cause cancers of the cervix, head, neck and anus.
