COLOMBIA-HEALTH-VACCINE-PAPILLOMAVIRUS

Sisters Maria Alejandra Montes (L) and Angie Paola Montes (C) and their cousin Yarlenis Paola Montes, pose at their relatives backyard in Carmen de Bolivar, Bolivar Province, Colombia, on September 4, 2014. The three girls are recovering from health problems, as Colombian health authorities have denied that the hundreds of cases of girls who presented symptoms of dizziness, strong headaches and even fainted, are related to having received the HPV "Human papillomavirus" vaccine, which protects against four strains of the human papillomavirus that can lead to cervical cancer. The vaccine aims to prevent the spread of HPV, which is the most common sexually transmitted infection. Certain HPV strains can cause cancers of the cervix, head, neck and anus.
