People harvest the vines on September 11, 2014 at the Muscadet vineyards of the Landron domain, in La Haie-Fouassiere, near Nantes, western France. The harvest of Muscadet opened this week the ball of pruning shears in the vineyards of the Loire Valley, which spreads out over 800 km, from the estuary of the royal river to its source and on the banks of its tributaries. Third wine region of France, the Loire Valley covers fifteen departments and its 52,000 hectares of vines, grown by 7,000 farmers, produce annually nearly 400 million bottles of wines from twenty major varietals, whose main characteristic is... diversity.
