French director of communication for the Paris-based NGO Acted, Adrien Tomarchio, reads a statement to the press on September 14, 2014, in Paris, following the release of a video showing the beheading of British aid worker David Haines by the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group. Haines, a former military man who spent years helping the neediest in warzones, became the latest hostage to be beheaded by IS militants in Syria.
