US-CALIFORNIA-FIRE
This NASA earth Observatory photo obtained September 19, 2014 shows on September 17, 2014, what the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured in this image of the King fire fire burning in Eldorado National Forest. Red outlines indicate hot spots where MODIS detected unusually warm surface temperatures associated with fire. US police have arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of starting a wildfire which doubled in size overnight and has threatend over 2,000 homes in northern California, officials said September 18, 2014. Some 2,800 people have evacuated their homes in the face of the raging King Fire, which has expanded to cover 71,000 acres (29,000 hectares). Wayne Allen Huntsman was arrested September 17, 2014 for arson for allegedly starting the blaze near Pollock Pines, about 140 miles (225 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, a Cal Fire spokesman told a press conference.
