BRITAIN-POLITICS-VOTE
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY ROBIN MILLARD
United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) campaigner David Gutmann checks leaflets as he delivers to addresses in Frinton-on-Sea, in Essex, on October 3, 2014. The coastal resort of Clacton could trigger a sea change in British politics on Thursday by voting UKIP into parliament for the first time, a major breakthrough ahead of the general election. Frustrated at the lack of change in the political system, Douglas Carswell, the quiet seaside town's sitting member of parliament since 2005, has defected from Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservatives to the populist United Kingdom Independence Party. Carswell decided to resign his seat and fight a by-election in his new purple-and-yellow colours -- and many in the town seem prepared to jump with him. AFP PHOTO/CARL COURT
