IRAQ-CONFLICT
Iraqi soldiers, coming from the Sunni Muslim city of Samarra, clean their weapons on October 4, 2014 in the Sunni town of Dhuluiyah, some 75 kms (45 miles) north of Baghdad, where security forces, backed by Sunni gunmen fight against Islamic State (IS) group fighters. IS has seized control of large parts of Syria and Iraq, declaring a "caliphate" in June and imposing its harsh interpretation of Islamic law, but their progress was slowed by new strikes from the coalition of Washington and Arab allies.
