BANGLADESH-ECONOMY-TANNERY
Bangladeshi labourers work in a tannery in Dhaka on October 8, 2014. The hides of animals sacrificed during the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations are sold to tanneries by seasonal traders, meeting roughly 48 percent of the annual demand for raw materials of the tanneries. The Bangladesh Tanners Association estimates between 1.2-1.4 million animals are slaughtered during the three-day Eid festival in Dhaka and another 7-7.5 million outside the capital.
