VENEZUELA-UN-VOTE-COUNCIL-MADURO
Handout picture released by the Venezuelan presidency showing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro (2-R), Vice-President Jorge Arreaza (R) and the president of the Parliament Diosdado Cabello (2-L) applauding during a meeting at the presidential palace Miraflores in Caracas on October 16, 2014. Maduro celebrated after Venezuela was elected as a non-permanent member to the UN Security Council, during the election at the UN General Assembly on Thursday. Venezuela along with Angola, Malaysia and New Zealand were elected to the UN Security Council, leaving Turkey and Spain to face off in a second vote for the coveted seat. The 193-nation assembly was voting to fill five non-permanent seats at the Security Council, the UN's top body with authority to decide on sanctions and the use of force.
