LITHUANIA-UKRAINE-RUSSIA-CRISIS-ENERGY-GAS-LNG-FILES
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY VAIDOTAS BENIUSIS (FILES) A photo taken on November 11, 2013, shows EU commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn (2ndL) and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite (2ndR) looking at a model of the world's first new-build liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) Independence displayed in Vilnius during the 4th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The gas vessel Independence, the world's first new-build liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) will be the first LNG cargo delivery at the gas terminal at the port of Klaipeda. As much of Europe anxiously awaits a Ukraine-Russia deal to avert the risk of winter gas cuts, Lithuania is breathing a sigh of relief as its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal will sever Moscow's grip on gas deliveries to the Baltic states.
