INDIA-ARTS-CULTURE-RANGOLI-DIWALI
Family members and friends at the Jagdip Mehta Heritage Home give final touches to a Rangoli or Floor Decoration titled “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India Drive) with a figure of Mahatma Gandhi (R) ahead of Diwali festivities in Ahmedabad on October 19, 2014. The artists are trying to spread the message of cleanliness drive, which was recently launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 200-year-old building "Jagdip Mehta Heritage Home" was restored with the joint efforts of The Ahmedabad Heritage Cell and The Embassy of France in India in 2006. Diwali, which falls on October 23 this year, marks the victory over evil and commemorates the time when the Hindu god Lord Rama achieved victory over Ravana and returned to his kingdom Ayodhya.
