Asma Shirazi, Pakistani senior journalist, anchorperson and analyst at DAWN NEWS, delivers remarks as she receives the Peter Mackler Award for Courageous and Ethical Journalism to October 23, 2014, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The Peter Mackler Award honors reporters and editors who have demonstrated a commitment to fairness, accuracy and speaking truth to power, and a matching commitment to asserting the right to publish or air that story in countries where independent media is under threat. The Peter Mackler Award was established in memory of long-time AFP journalist and editor Peter Mackler, honoring an international journalist who has achieved success under repressive conditions.
