Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz gives a press conference on October 24, 2014 at the end of a European summit at EU headquarters in Brussels. Polish environmentalists slammed a landmark 2030 European Union climate deal on October 24, arguing it will prolong their country's heavy dependence on coal, a fossil fuel linked to greenhouse gas emissions. The 28 EU states vowed early on October 24 to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 percent compared to 1990 levels, paving the way for a new United Nations-backed global treaty next year.
