ROMANIA-VOTE
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY MIHAELA RODINA -
Members of the Romanian media wait at the entrance of the Romanian anti-corruption department (DNA) headquarters in Bucharest October 24, 2014. The advances in the justice system could be "reviewed in two day", Livia Stanciu, president of the Supreme Court of Romania told AFP. Experts hope that increased surveillance from Brussels should be a safeguard against Romania regressing in the field of justice. The electoral campaign was marked by numerous charges and announcements of corruption probes by the anti-corruption prosecutor (DNA), including many aimed at political allies of the prime minister. Although Romanian Prime Minister and main presidential candidate Victor Ponta has promised to keep the justice system independent, his regular criticism of the DNA, which he considers to be partisan, has stirred trouble.
