ALGERIA-INDEPENDENCE-ANNIVERSARY
(FILES) - A file picture taken on September 24, 1957, shows National Liberation Front (or Front de Libération Nationale, known as FLN) member, Zohra Drif (C-L), after being captured in a hideout in the Kasbah with Yacef Saadi (unseen), FLN military chief in the autonomous region of the capital Algiers. This arrest marked the end of the "The Battle of Algiers" and the total dismantling of the FLN networks in the area by the French paratroopers, led by Colonel Marcel Bigeard who moved into the Kasbah in February 1957.
