FRANCE-BRITAIN-IMMIGRATION-CALAIS
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve (L) speaks, next to the mayor of Calais Natacha Bouchard, of French right-wing opposition Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party, on November 3, 2014 in Calais during a visit in an attempt to calm tensions between immigrants, police and the local community. The mayor of Calais told lawmakers in London on October 28, 2014 that fencing donated by Britain to keep illegal migrants from the French exit port was "laughable" and said the border controls should be in Britain. Up to 2,300 migrants are thought to be in Calais and surrounding areas, overwhelming security forces as they make regular attempts to mob the port en masse to try and scramble onto trucks boarding ferries to the British port of Dover.
