FRANCE-AGRICULTURE-PROTEST
Farmers from the French farmers unions FNSEA (Federation Nationale des Syndicats d'Exploitants Agricoles) and JA (Jeunes Agriculteurs, or Young Farmers union) distribute potatoes and fruits to residents after dumping 50 tons of potatoes below the square's statue during a protest on Place de La Republique in downtown Paris on November 5, 2014. France is facing widespread farmer strikes across the country on November 5, protesting their increasing constraints and charges, the collapsing prices of cereals, milk and vegetables, caused in part by the sanctions on Russia, as well as rising fertiliser prices.
