BURKINA-POLITICS-CRISIS-ECOWAS
Ghanaian and ECOWAS president John Dramani Mahama (3rdR) talks during a meeting with African Union's special envoy to Burkina Faso Edem Kodjo (L), ECOWAS Commission President Desire Kadre Ouedraogo (2ndL), Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan (3rdL), Senegalese President Macky Sall (2ndR), UN Secretary General representative for West Africa Ibn Mohamed Chambas and Burkinabese opposition leaders in Ouagadougou on November 5, 2014. Three west African leaders arrived in Burkina Faso on November 5 to pressure the country's army into keeping its promise of a speedy handover of power to a civilian government following the fall of president Blaise Compaore. The presidents of Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal flew into Ouagadougou to press the issue, after Canada suspended its aid to the impoverished West African nation and other nations considered similar moves.
