BRAZIL-SOCIAL-FAVELA-POLICE-DEBUTANTE BALL
Girls from the Cerro-Cora favela who turn 15 this year arrive in a pink limousine at the castle at Fiscal Island, in Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 6, 2014 for a debutante ball organized by the Pacifying Police Unit (UPP) from their community. In order to promote integration, the UPP organizes a group debutante ball where they and theri families share the traditional rite of passage from childhood to womanhood with the girls turning 15 and their families.
