US-MALI-UNREST-FRANCE-NETHERLANDS-KIDNAP

This still from video provided by private terrorism monitor SITE Intelligence Group and distributed on Twitter and jihadi forums on November 17, 2014 by the Sahara division of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), shows Dutch captive Sjaak Rijke appealing to his government to secure his release. Rijke, who spoke English, indicating that the date of the recording is September 26, 2014, has been held for 1,000 days. Rijke asked the Dutch government to negotiate for his release, noting that the US negotiated the release of Bowe Bergdahl for five prisoners of the Afghan Taliban held in Guantanamo. Rijke was captured in Timbuktu, Mali, in November 2011.
