Members of the cultural group Ngati Ranana perform rituals and blessings during a press confenece taking place at sunrise on November 18, 2014 prior to the opening of the exhibition "Gottfried Lindauer - The Maori Portraits" at the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) museum in Berlin. Gottfried Lindauer, born in 1839 in Pilsen (today in the Czech Republic), is one of the few painters of the late 19th century to devote himself in his work almost exclusively to depicting an indigenous people, the Maori of Aotearoa / New Zealand, in portraits and genre paintings. According to the museum, is the first time that the descendants of the personalities depicted have given permission for the pictures to be shown outside of Aotearoa/New Zealand. The exhibition is running from November 20, 2014 to April 12, 2015. AFP PHOTO / TOBIAS SCHWARZ
