EL SALVADOR-INTIPUCA-MIGRATION-REMITTANCE
Matilde Argueta, 79, recalls her daughter Sonia Argueta --who emigrated from their home town to the US-- in Intipuca, 179 km southeast of San Salvador, on October 21, 2014. More than two million Salvadorans in the United States sent $ 2.5 billion a year in remittance. The people of Intipuca receive the highest percentage in the country, which has become a key resource for the benefit of citizens who keep the town with good infrastructure, electricity supply, a cultural center and a football stadium, among other social benefit works.
