NETHERLANDS-AGRICULTURE-HEALTH-BIRD-FLU
Some 43,000 laying hens are being culled to prevent any possible spread of infection at the poultry farm in Ter Aar, just east of The Hague, on 21 November 2014. Dutch officials have detected a second case of bird flu in a southern Netherlands farm, officials said on November 20, but could not yet say whether the strain was of a highly contagious variety discovered earlier this week. The powerful Dutch poultry industry has now been paralyzed for a second time this week with a nationwide ban on the transport of all poultry and related products since 2:00 pm (1300 GMT) on November 20.
