CYPRUS-SYRIA-REFUGEES-CONFLICT
Some 220 Syrian refugees wait to be rescued from a fishing boat near the port of Kyrenia off the northern coast of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognised only by Turkey, after the vessel hit rough seas in the Mediterranean on November 23, 2014. Turkish -Cypriot rescue teams transferred the refugees to another vessel in an operation that lasted several hours in bad weather after the boat had signalled for help when it was some 300 metres (yards) off the coast near Kyrenia.
