US home prices were up 4.9 percent in September from a year ago as the pace of annual gains still slows, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller index released on November 25, 2014. The Case-Shiller 20-city price index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent from August to September, an acceleration from the previous period, but unadjusted prices were flat from August. The strongest gains were in Miami, Las Vegas, Dallas and Charlotte, while home prices in the hot Washington DC-area market fell. Regionally, only the southeast region was showing firm gains, helped especially by Miami, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina, according to index data. AFP Photo/Paul J. Richards
