BRAZIL-RUBBER-CHICO MENDES
Picture of the grave of famous conservationist Chico Mendes, a rubber tapper gunned down in 1988 by local ranchers engaged in deforestation, at a cemetery in Xapuri, Acre State, in northwestern Brazil, on October 8, 2014. Xapuri has the world's only producer of contraceptives harvested from the latex of the tropical forest.
