Mexico City's police chief has resigned on Friday after sharp criticism of his officers' handling of recent protests over the apparent massacre of 43 students. Mexico City has been the scene of massive, sometimes violent protests in recent weeks over the fate of the male students. The national soul-searching began in September after police in the southern state of Guerrero attacked busloads of college students, abducted 43 young men and handed them over to drug gang members.
