(FILES) A file picture taken on June 27, 2014 shows Russia's President Vladimir Putin as he attends a ceremony of accepting the credentials of the new foreign ambassadors in Aleksandrovsky (Alexander's) Hall at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow. For years he played the part of the frosty pragmatist, doggedly set on restoring pride and power to a once-great superpower. Putin's approval ratings soared to 90 percent as he oversaw an outpouring of nationalistic pride long buried under the humiliation of the Cold War's conclusion. Then, on February 27 2014, President Vladimir went rogue.
