PERU-NAZCA LINE-HUMMINGBIRD-DAMAGE-GREENPEACE

Members of the National Culture Institute of Peru evaluate damages at a millenia-old archaeological site after Greenpeace activists displayed a protest banner in Nazca, Peru, some 435 km south of Lima on December 12, 2014. Geoglyphs can be seen only from atop the surrounding foothills or from aircrafts. The purpose of the Nazca lines remains unclear, according some scientists the Nazca people created them to be seen by their gods in the sky.The area of the Nazca Lines cover nearly 500 km2.
